In The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game, players lead a group of adventurers attempting to complete perilous quests in Middle-earth. From the fields of the Shire to the dangerous paths of the Dark Forest, through the kingdoms of Gondor and Rohan, the famous heroes of this universe come together to resist the threat of the Dark Lord, Sauron. The Lord of the Rings is a cooperative multiplayer Evolutionary Card Game (ECG), acting together against game-controlled scenarios. Additional cards and quests will be available in regularly released expansions, allowing players to customise the content of their decks. An ancient evil stirs in the dark lands of Mordor, and the peoples of Middle-earth speak of a terrible curse coming from the East.

The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game is a cooperative game that places 1 or 2 players (up to 4 players with 2 base boxes) in control of the most powerful characters and artifacts in Middle Earth. Players will choose their heroes, gather allies, obtain artifacts, and coordinate their efforts to face Middle-earth's most dangerous enemies. Cooperate to overcome obstacles from the Encounter deck and you'll be able to complete the adventures that stand in your way... leading to victory!
In The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game, players take on the role of heroes who fight for victory in dangerous adventures. These take place over an extended period of time, stretching from approximately the end of "The Hobbit" to the beginning of "The Fellowship of the Ring". Rather than telling the classic stories that have already been told, this game offers players a variety of elements (characters, locations, enemies, events, objects, artefacts and settings) that will allow them to embark on new adventures and share their experiences throughout this dark period of Middle-earth history. Unlike most card games in which players compete against each other, The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game is a cooperative game in which players work together as a team and face a scenario. In each game, they will have to overcome the encounters, enemies and challenges of each scenario and ultimately win or fail together.
