Five years have passed since the Red Festival. When the king's death was made public, Rob the Builder claimed the throne and was officially crowned king soon after. Sam Merz, former mayor of Canyon Brook and the Order of the Hooded Ones are six feet under. Peace is still fragile between the Crown and the North; the latter is only slowly recovering. Rabbit, leader of the rebellion, remains the central figure in the North.

Thanks to his skills, Nate Welton, a former assistant, was able to become a guild master in no time and has since become one of the King's most influential advisors. Chris Chart, Bishop of Longsdale, is still in possession of the old book he has finally read. He is also convinced that the Ice Giants will return within the next two years, marking the end of this era. He convinces the king to send an expedition to the new port of Canyon Brook and from there from the sea to the land of the Ice Giants in the hope of avoiding the threat through diplomacy. Nate Welton, the Hand of the King, will accompany you on your journey.
