Hive: The Ladybug was first introduced in the iPhone version of Hive in 2010. It is included in both the "Carbon" and "Pocket" versions of Hive, and was released as an expansion for the original bakelite edition of the base game Hive. The ladybird moves three squares: two on top of the hive, then one down. It must move exactly two squares on top of the hive and then one square down on its last move.
It may not move outside the Hive and may not end its move on top of the Hive. Although it cannot block by landing on other pieces like the Scarab, it can move in or out of the surrounded spaces. It also has the advantage of being much faster. The expansion consists of two game pieces (one for the black player and one for the white player), to be used in addition to the basic game pieces.
