Shabadabada is a very fun atmosphere game on the theme of music and songs. Players are divided into two teams (choirs?) to compete in what is sure to be a loud, funny and colourful game. A card is turned over and the first team has to find a song with one of the words on the card. Once the song has been found and performed (one or two verses are enough), it is up to the other team to take over and find another song with the same word. Once one team has finished, the other team takes the card away and a new one is put back into play. When the chosen pile of cards is exhausted, the game ends and the team with the most cards wins the game (so you can adjust the duration as you wish). A small example is better than a long speech, so here is what a game of Shabadabada could look like with one of the game's cards...
Let's take a card with the words summer or (to) want: Team 1 begins offensively with the word "summer" and sings "Voilà l'été" by the Green Negresses. Team 2 responds calmly and modestly by singing a few verses of "l'été indien" by the late Joe Dassin. Decidedly steeped in rock fury, Team 1 delves back into the roots of Australian blues/rock and angrily sings ACDC's "If You Want Blood" using the word "want". Team 2, undaunted, undulates lasciviously through an unmistakable rendition of George Michael's "I Want Your Sex". Team 1 is stunned and takes a while to find a solution to their problem. They launch into a chaotic rendition of Nino Ferrer's "Le Sud" ("...et toujours en été..."). The same card is kept until one of the two teams finds nothing, then a new card is drawn.
