The team that starts chooses its writer and researcher. The writer and the players of the other teams discover the secret word of the round on the card. The writer then secretly writes 3 clue words on the answer pad. Meanwhile, the other teams try to guess which clue words the writer will use, and they write their 3 guesses on their sheet. The writer then reads his or her words out loud to the researcher who will try to guess the secret word. Be careful, the researcher is only allowed 1 guess. The other teams then reveal their clue words and check whether any of them match the writer's.
In 3 Chouettes Mots, the more the teams' clue words match the writer's, the more points they score. Conversely, the more creative the writer was in getting their researcher to guess the word, the more their owl will advance to the finish.
