One day, Coyote crossed the river with his friends, but he was carrying too much stuff and almost drowned before Bear pulled him out. Poor Coyote had lost everything. They sat down by a fire to dry off and rest. Coyote became jealous of the other animals because they still had all their stuff, so he challenged them to a game of bluff to win their possessions. The other animals accepted the challenge because they thought Coyote would never win. After all, he is known for never telling the truth - but in this game, everyone has to lie because no one knows the truth... In Coyote's bluffing game, you always see the other players' cards, but never your own. When it is your turn, you must call a number that is lower than the total of all the cards in the deck, but higher than the number given previously. You can also challenge the number previously announced. Finally, when all the cards are revealed, you will see who has the cunning Coyote on their side.
Coyote is part of the same range of games as Spicy, with the game box and the backs of the cards decorated with a special metallic copper print. As in the tradition of the Northwest Coast tribes, copper is a symbol of prosperity and cultural wealth. Artist Zona Evon Shroyer (Yupik Native Alaskan) is a master of traditional Northwest Coast art, whose richness of detail and complexity require years of study and practice. For the cover illustration of Coyote, she drew a modern silhouette for the coyote, which she then filled in classically with other animal motifs: turtle, beaver and bear - the animals with which he sits around the fire and plays a game, in our little story.
