Monique is a nonsensical word association game that promises to be a fun evening! Each player is dealt 4 to 5 cards, depending on the number of players. The remaining cards form a deck. The first player puts down a face-up card of their choice and reads it out loud, for example "Goat". You have 4 choices: 1. Place a word card face up on top of the previous one. Your word must be related to the previous one. If the word has an obvious connection, e.g. "Cheese" with "Goat", your association is validated by the other players and your turn is over. On the other hand, if your word raises doubts, another player intervenes and says "I don't see the connection". It is up to you to explain the relationship between the two words. Everyone listens to your explanation and then they vote.
2. Put down a Word card face down. This card may or may not have a connection with the previous word. A player can then say "You're bluffing! You turn your card over and have to justify yourself. The voting phase follows to see if you were convincing enough! If no one calls your bluff, it is the next player's turn. We start again from the last revealed Word card. 3. Draw a card. You can play it immediately or skip your turn. 4. Play a Monique card instead of a Word card. Each card has its own special features written on it. The next player starts with the last revealed Word card.
What about humour? If during your justification you manage to make your accuser laugh, you win! At last your justification is validated. Because you will have to get rid of all your cards to really win. Prepare your speech, the assembly is ready to vote! Spice up your games with the red cards: only to be used when children and other sensitive souls are in bed ;)
