878 - The Vikings is the first installment of the series Birth of Europe, cousin of the series Birth of America (1775 The American Revolution, 1812 The Invasion of Canada, and soon 1754 The Conquest). Its theme is the Viking invasions on the Anglo-Saxon coast in the 9th century.
As usual, the game takes up 90% of the common rules while including differences that will allow to create a new gaming experience. In 878 The Vikings, the camps are asymmetrical since the English camp begins the game with territories while the viking camp will land on the island by wave of invasion. Another change, armies can be led by these lords. In this case, this army can fight in its movement just as it can drop or recover units on its way.
Then came new totally different tactics from 1775 The American Revolution or 1812 Invasion of Canada.
