At Agricola, you are a farmer in a wooden shack with your spouse and little else. In turn, you can only do two things, one for yourself and one for your spouse, out of all the possibilities that you will find on a farm: collecting resources, building meadows, etc. You can consider having children to do more work, but you must first expand your home.

Agricola is a turn-based game. There are 14 rounds of the game in 6 stages, with a harvest at the end of each stage (after rounds 4, 7, 9, 11, 13 and 14). Each player starts with two meeples that can each perform one action per turn. There are several options, and as the game progresses, you will have more: each round, an additional (fixed) option becomes available. Each action can only be performed by one player per turn, so it is important to do certain things in preference.

Compared to its predecessor, a lot has changed: the new action at each turn is fixed, and the game has been simplified by removing stones and vegetables. There are now buildings (which replace major upgrades) that score points for the remaining resources at the end of the game. In addition, there are no more restrictions on buildings (nor on player boards). And finally, there are no more negative points or point limits, each player simply scores for everything he has achieved.
