All the pieces are laid face down on the table (or on the floor if you prefer to play on the floor). A first player turns over two pieces. If the same picture appears on both pieces, the player wins the pieces and flips over two more. If the two pieces do not match, the player puts them back face down in the exact place where they were, and it is up to the next player to turn over two pieces. Anyone with a good memory will remember the location of the pieces that have already been flipped over and can use them when they need them to complete a pair. The winner is the one who accumulates the most pairs.
