A sheriff, outlaws and a renegade clash in the merciless Wild West. While the outlaws want to eliminate the sheriff, the renegade aims to kill the outlaws and take the sheriff's place. The roles of the players are secret except for the sheriff, who is revealed at the beginning of the game after the random distribution of the role cards. Before competing in fierce duels, players receive a character card with their character's characteristics and life points.
Each round, players draw two cards and then play as many cards as they wish. However, only one Bang card can be played per turn and only one weapon can be activated at a time. The number of cards a player can keep in his hand at the end of his turn also depends on his health points (a player with 2 health points can only keep 2 cards). The brown action cards allow you to draw additional cards (Convoys, Diligences), to shoot your opponents (Bang, Duel), etc. These cards are discarded after use. The blue-sided cards represent offensive or defensive accessories (Remington, Planque) that are activated by placing them in front of you.
At the beginning of the game, players may only attack their immediate neighbours. Acquiring a weapon will allow them to shoot more players by increasing the range of their shots. The game ends when the sheriff dies. If the renegade is the only one in play, he wins. Otherwise, the outlaws win. Conversely, if the sheriff is the last survivor, he wins the game.
