Operation Commando recounts the battles of the 6th Airborne for control of the two bridges at Ranville and Bénouville, later renamed Horsa and Pegasus bridges, the assault on the Merville battery and the destruction of the bridges over the Dives. The game is played in "duel" mode (2 players) in which one of the players will try to bring down his opponent. a game lasts between 30 and 45 minutes. the format of the game, a compact box, makes it ideal for travel. it can also be played in a small space (tested in a tgv or a café table...) with a little organisation.
three historical scenarios are proposed as well as an initiation scenario around the capture of the bridge of bénouville within the framework of a faster game. ideal to begin or train a new player. a campaign rule allows the players to complete the three historical scenarios in one evening by a simple system of calculation of the number of victory points acquired by the English. Each side, English and German, has its own set of cards representing combat units, combat actions and events. The English will have to progress through terrain (representing "play your opponent") and planning to get far... Random setups and shuffling of cards at the start of the game (although you can change your initial hand) provide significant replayability.
Pegasus Bridge is the first part of the Operation Commando series which should offer for 2015 "st mère eglise" around the drops of the American paratroopers of the 82nd and 101st Airborne. A "D-Day" module will complete the commando operations of 6 June with the sea landings of the Rangers at Pointe du Hoc, the investment of Port en Bessin by the Royal Marines Commandos and the assault on Ouistreham by the French Marine Commandos of Kieffer. This module will then link all the operations together for a "landing" super-campaign.
