Over the course of several rounds, each player tries to collect and place the necessary combinations for their 8 levels as quickly as possible. The first player to do so wins the game. Each player receives a Level card and slides it into his or her indicator, so that the first level ("2 sets of 3 cards") appears in the window (see illustration on the left). One player is designated to be the first dealer: he shuffles the 99 cards and deals them one by one until each player (including himself) has 10 cards. The remaining cards form the deck in the middle of the table.
The dealer then turns over the top card of the deck and places it face up next to him. It is the first card in his personal discard pile. During the course of the game, everyone will have their own personal discard pile, always facing them.
