On the menu of this edition, in particular, cards that come together to form a third extremely powerful card. It's called Assimilation, and it's undoubtedly the most "flashy" mechanic of the last of the two branches of the Dark Block on Innistrad. The principle is simple, if you both own and control one of the three pairs of these new special cards, they are exiled to summon a third entity (which is the size of two cards, by the way).
Another new ability is Emergence, which reduces the cost of summoning some Eldrazi by sacrificing another creature.
