Build a city where your crime syndicate reigns supreme. The game takes place in Noxford, a timeless city that is constantly being built to the rhythm of the gears that carry it. Each player leads a crime syndicate, which will rely on its lieutenants and their henchmen in order to become the most influential around the rich districts of the city. NOXFORD is a placement and majority card game set in a Victorian fantasy city. Each player starts the game with a hand of 3 cards (his Lieutenants, his Big Men and his Henchmen) from the 10 in his Syndicate.
On his turn, a player must place a Union card from his hand into play, or a Neutral card. The Neutral cards are the wealthy districts of Noxford, which will earn points for the players who control them at the end of the game. The cards must be placed so that they touch two other cards and are aligned on two of their edges: in this way, the cards placed take turns building the city map. During the game, players can place their Union cards on the opponent's lower-ranked cards, move parts of the city using the Gear cards, or cancel the influence of certain parts of the city using the Barracks.
The game ends as soon as a player places his last Union card. The influence of each player is then counted. When a player has more cards than his opponents around a district, he controls it and scores as many points as the number of buildings in this district as well as 2 additional points for each symbol of his favorite domain.
