Exploding Kittens is a kitty version of Russian roulette. Players draw cards in turn until someone draws a kitten that explodes and loses the game. The deck is composed of cards that allow you to avoid exploding by glancing at the cards before shooting, forcing your opponent to draw several cards or by mixing the deck.
The game becomes more intense with each card you draw because fewer cards left in the deck means a greater chance to draw the kitten and explode into an inflamed ball of feline hyperbole.
