Nothing you know about prepared you for this: these floating plants are indeed unique specimens. Using what look like gas pockets to levitate above the ground, they can move anywhere. Their sprawling roots have the unfortunate habit of trying to feel up anything they consider worthy of interest, in a way that could be defined as 'sympathetically curious but awkward'. In most cases, this is not a big deal in itself. But when you're fighting a hornbear, climbing a steep cliff or defusing a devious trap... it can have very unfortunate consequences.
Unlike Devourers, the effects of this expansion are directly linked to your Action Deck. When you start a game that includes "Flying Roots", replace the 4 "Death Lurking" curse cards with those from this expansion. During the course of the adventure, when a "Flying Root" is present on your field, if you reveal a "Death Lurks!" card during an action, well - not that these intrepid plants mean you any harm - but it's not going to go well for you...
Chances are, at the start of your adventure, you'll see these strange creatures as a source of annoyance. But if you take the time to study them and discover their remarkable properties, you'll find that they can be very useful to you, even if they keep bugging you with their very personal way of wanting to be your friend. Well, at least they're not trying to eat you (if you see the glass as half full)!
