In Circus, players send their best performers into the ring to perform an act. If your performer is better than the previous one, a deafening applause sounds and you earn points. Appropriately, the grand finale follows at the end of the show, after which the points are counted. The player with the most points is the best circus director and wins the game. The game consists of 7 rounds. In each round, the players use their improvement cards to place improvement cubes on their performers. Each different coloured cube represents a different improvement, such as talent or costume. When you think your performer is ready, you send them into the ring for a performance.
The success of this performance depends on the improvements your performer has. Each cube that matches a cube of the previous performer is worth 1 point, but each cube that does not match is worth 2 points. After all, spectators like variety! In addition, each round, the poster cards will determine which type of artist is worth a few bonus points. At the end of the game, the players will send the remaining artists for a final performance and score extra points based on their (improved) quality.
