Welcome to Cartagena, Colombia! The colonial houses of this historic city bear witness to its colourful past. You, on the other hand, are more interested in old shipwrecks - more precisely, sunken Spanish galleons filled with gold. It's time for an old-fashioned underwater treasure hunt. What you didn't expect is that many of you have discovered the legends of these buried riches. To make matters worse, a barracuda is lurking in the wrecks. The challenge in Barrakuda is to be the first player to have eight gold coins in your chest, but before you can lock the gold in your chest, you must find it on wrecks or steal it from others.
To set up the game, lay out the wreck cards numbered 1-6 in an orthogonal arrangement, and give each player the movement cards numbered 1-5, plus a barracuda card. On their turn, each player chooses a card from their hand, then reveals them simultaneously. If you have played a movement card, move your counter to that wreck card; if you are the only player present (and the barracuda is not), perform the special action and the general action indicated on the card. If more than one player is on the same wreck card, the player with the fewest Movement cards in front of him has the initiative and may either take the special action or all the gold in a player's bag; then all players take the general action for that card.
If you are the only one who has played a barracuda card, roll the distance die, then move it as many spaces in any direction you wish. If a barracuda is on the same space as a player, that player must place his gold on that wreck space; the other players may pick up that gold from the next turn. If none or more than one player is playing the barracuda, roll the direction and distance card to determine where it is going. The actions on the cards allow you to pick up the gold, move the gold from your bag to your chest, protect yourself from the barracuda, pick up the movement cards, move the barracuda, and so on.
