Golarion's maritime corridors of the seas and oceans are used by imposing merchant ships with holds full of ordinary and exotic products, but also by pirates and privateers who prey on them. Under the banner of the Hurricane King, these buccaneers leave the archipelago of myriad ports and pirate anchorages called the Chains to plunder the ships of countless nations and merchant consortiums and return to hide in the maze of islands and reefs they consider their territory. Nothing would please the nations of the Inland Sea more than to put a definitive end to the pirate threat, but the perpetual hurricane known as the Eye of Abendego has so far protected the free Captains of the Chains from all reprisals.
