Würm. This strange name is that of an alpine valley. It is also used to refer to the last great glaciation in Europe, which began almost eighty thousand years ago and ended only ten thousand years ago. Würm is also the name of a role-playing game that takes place in prehistoric times, 40,000 years ago. Würm invites you to embody a character belonging to one of the two human species who share a dangerous and unexplored prehistoric world, and to discover the fascinating history that scientists teach us, of course, but also that of the spirits and shamans that populate our imaginations.
The rules of the second edition have benefited from nine years of testing and feedback from the community. Emmanuel Roudier made important adjustments to obtain the version proposed today. Würm's rules make it possible to stage both the everyday reality and the magical imagination of our Ice Age ancestors. They have been designed with the ambition to be as faithful as possible to archaeological sources, without constraining the creativity of the players.
The playful mechanics are even simpler than in the previous version, refined and balanced for both beginners and experienced characters. But the game is enriched with many new possibilities that make it more complete and tasty : new Strengths, new Weaknesses, new combat options, new Secret Talents and Knowledge, new magic options for shamans, new creatures in the bestiary, new game options for adventure locations, addition of numerous random tables allowing you to improvise adventures on the go, all with the idea of making the prehistoric universe of the game more accessible, more detailed and more coherent, offering the possibility of playing Würm for years, through endless sagas!
