Alsace is the heir to a fertile history which has always ensured it an international vocation: the union of the 10 imperial cities, the Thirty Years War, the industrial revolution, various influences, the eras are revealed in the towns and villages with their medieval streets with half-timbered houses and flowered windows, churches and fountains in the squares.
Tourism has naturally become one of the major assets of the region: cathedrals, castles, museums of all kinds, riverside residences, traditional storks and a rich vineyard with its 170 km road, adorn the region. Its gastronomy delights the traveler as well as the Alsatians. Central region of Europe, it houses the European Parliament in Strasbourg. A long tradition of industry, research centers and an efficient university, which promote a strong cultural activity of high standing, ensure an economic place of choice to the "beautiful province".
