Located between Beauce and Gâtinais, at the gateway to Chambord and Sologne, Orléans is one of the oldest cities in France. Its geographical position, in the center of the country on the banks of the Loire, has long given it an important place in French history: it was the capital of a kingdom in the Merovingian period and capital of the Robertians and the first Capetian kings of France. It remains marked by the imprint of Joan of Arc who delivered it in 1429. It is also famous for the beauty of the banks of the Loire, its fauna and flora which were recently declared "World Heritage of UNESCO".
Capital of the Loiret department, its agglomeration gathers 264.000 inhabitants. Its historical districts show us many private mansions, as well as a Gothic cathedral. A city of the Loire Valley par excellence, located one hour from Paris, it is known for its economic dynamism, as is the case of Orleans Technopole. As the southern gateway to the Paris basin, between the Loire and the Sologne, Orléans has established itself as a natural technopole.
