The Vendée is above all an extraordinary diversity of landscapes: the Green Vendée, land of hedgerows and marshes, takes us from the Mont des Alouettes to the Puy du fou, before going down to La Roche-sur-Yon and then discovering the South Vendée, land of great builders and refuge of an unspoiled nature between Luçon, Fontenay le Comte and the Marais Poitevin. The Blue Vendée, with its 250 km of coastline, leads us from the islands to Bretignolles and then, from Sables-d'Olonne, along the coast to the peaceful beaches of the South.
This territory of 6,720 km2, inhabited by more than 540,000 Vendéens, is located on the borders of the Armorican base and the Aquitaine basin. The economic dynamism of the region, which will be reinforced by the 2010 road plan, places it at the top of the Pays de la Loire. Agricultural and industrial, maritime and terrestrial, sporting as the Vendée Globe testifies, the Vendée never ceases to cultivate the taste for enterprise that allows it to build its future.
