The players embody influential heads of Parisian families of the late 14th century, who compete for their prosperity and fame. At the head of one of the districts at the foot of Notre-Dame Cathedral, they will have to choose their shares skilfully in order to acquire the greatest prestige. Whether they are building a bank or subsidizing a residence, players will always have to choose between prestige and wealth.
Players will be able to bribe many characters who will give them privileges and allow them to guarantee the well-being of their citizens against the plague. The player who has best ensured development and prosperity in his neighbourhood will get enough prestige to win. The player with the most prestige points after the third set will win the game.
