The London Underground is the metro system that serves Greater London and the surrounding areas of Essex, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. The first subway to open in the world (1863)2 , it is commonly referred to as the Underground (although 55% of the network is above ground) or The Tube, in reference to the cylindrical shape of the tunnels of its deep lines. Monopoly moves from the streets of London to its Underground.
