Check your opponent's king, better check the Mate! Chess is played on a checkerboard of 64 squares, 8 rows and 8 columns, alternately white and black (light or dark), called a chessboard. This must be placed in front of the players so that a black square is at the bottom and left for each of them. Each player has 16 pieces (black for one, white for the other), representing an army, which he will place on the board according to their rank.
