Over the past 15 years, Bordeaux has undergone a profound transformation. The urban project has led to a real urban revolution, with the arrival of the tramway and the gigantic construction site of the Port de la Lune quays. This metamorphosis resulted in 2007 in the city being classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in recognition of 18 centuries of history and heritage that have shaped the image of a merchant city that has become one of the world's wine capitals. Roman ruins, Romanesque and Gothic churches and basilicas, sumptuous 18th century mansions that are at the origin of the famous quayside facades, 19th century warehouses where contemporary art is exhibited, the city today is once again open to its river and has undertaken the development of its right bank.
A major tourist center, increased tenfold by the UNESCO effect, Bordeaux is also a capital of the art of living and culture: exceptional gastronomy, vineyards, proximity to the Arcachon Basin and the Atlantic coast, the magic of its estuary and its river, one of the most beautiful operas in France and a rich cultural and sporting life.
