Nice, the fifth largest city in France, has formed, since the 14th century, a province called the County of Nice. This area, along with Savoy, was the last to be integrated into France, in 1860. Nice is endowed with a varied heritage, remarkable for the richness of the baroque architecture of its churches and palaces. Always Savoyard, it invented in the 18th century, the climatic tourism. Prefecture of the Alpes-Maritimes, flagship city of the French Riviera, with the second largest airport in France, Nice is not only the center of an internationally renowned destination, it is also, proudly and deeply rooted, the capital of its County.
