This place undeniably had an aura - misty, dark and reeking of rotting vegetation. It was incredible that anything other than mushrooms could grow in the vicinity. But your employer, a biologist, had heard rumours of interesting wildlife lurking around. If you could find such a sample, you know it would be well rewarded. In that smoky, dimly lit pub just outside Innsmouth, over two pints of bland beer, a local man overhears your conversation. He approaches your table. "You want some weird specimens, don't you? There's quite a few around here. As a matter of fact, just last night, Brady went to get some worms from the old cemetery on the hill where the Widow Fenstrom's mansion used to be. That was a long time ago, before it burned down. Brady came back with this... thing, which he traded for a beer and whiskey. "The old man waved his hand to the bartender. "Martin! You still got Brady's big find?"

"He's probably dead by now. You're lucky I haven't thrown it away yet. "Opening a little wooden box, he says, 'Oh, he's still wiggling. " You lean over the bar to take a closer look at the contents of the box. A second later, you regret having done it. Inside you see a little finger with thin vegetable tentacles squirming out of the severed flesh. The little finger is shaken violently. You jump with horror, jostling a table and spilling several beers. "And that's not even the strangest thing Brady brought back here," says Martin, wrinkling his nose over his little souvenir. Your thoughts are racing. You're wondering if some sort of unknown parasite is keeping the finger alive. You're sure such a discovery must be worth a fortune. "Where can I find this Mr. Brady?" you ask. "Try the cemetery. He's probably looking for night owl creatures. »
