A big storm is coming... Nearly a thousand years ago, the great wizard Timmorran poured all his power into a relic called the Orb of Heaven. With this object, he hoped to preserve the peace after his death. But Timmorran was betrayed. To prevent the Orb from falling into the hands of evil, the sorcerer broke his creation and scattered the fragments throughout the world of Mennara, entrusting them only to noble souls and wise men. Centuries later, the peace was broken. In Terrinoth, the dragons learned that fragments were hidden in these green lands. The dragons searched for these fragments and marked them with their own runes. Over time, the dragons' strength declined, but not the power invested in the fragments, now called dragon runes.
Now an ancient evil has emerged from the depths of the misty lands. Waiqar the Betrayer, who has always searched for the fragments of Timmorran, has sent his armies of the undead. Patrols of Latari elves have disappeared along the northern borders where it is said that an old scourge, the bloodthirsty Uthuk Y'llan, has returned in force. Meanwhile, the Daqan Lords, proud descendants of the ancient kings, have summoned their knights and raised their banners in preparation for war. The hour of battle has arrived on Terrinoth - an apocalyptic battle for control of the dragon runes has begun. Only one will be able to dominate Terrinoth, and perhaps later Mennara.
In the Runewars board game, two to four players each control a powerful empire and fight to dominate the lands of Terrinoth. But conquering Terrinoth is no easy task. Each side must recruit armies, enlist heroes who will go in search of powerful artifacts, and negotiate with non-aligned factions. By mastering the conquest, the quests, and the management of its empire, a faction will eventually gather enough dragon runes to unify the land of Terrinoth under its banner. Over 190 finely sculpted plastic figurines, hundreds of cards and counters, a modular board and innovative rules make Runewars the ultimate kingdom management board game in a fantasy world.
