The war never ends. Its victims are counted in thousands, and every day we lose a little more hope... Food is scarce and our shelter is falling apart. Yet we continue to fight. We meet new faces throughout the city: some friendly, in the improvised market or in the neighbouring houses, and others hostile at nightfall. The latter brandish blinding flashlights, clubs and knives.
We look for new passages through the ruins - sometimes even under the ground - to avoid sniper bullets and to pick up anything of value. The booty is still meagre. Yet we continue to fight. We have no other choice.
