In the heart of the desert, the goddess Ishtar has given you the most precious gift. The water finally flows out of the fountains and now allows the vegetation to exist! Live up to this offering: grow flower beds and plant trees to transform the desert into a sumptuous garden. Be a smart strategist: only the best of you will get the coveted title of Royal Gardener of Babylon!
1. Strategic and accessible. Ishtar - The Gardens of Babylon is the new great strategy game by Bruno Cathala and Evan Singh. Inspired by the game of Go, it opposes 2 to 4 players in the control of resources and plantations within a shared space. In turn, each player places a vegetation tile in the extension of one of the fountains and collects the gems, more or less rare, scattered on the field. He will then be able to use these resources to select a promising vegetation tile, plant trees or unlock Masters. Each choice made, each action taken can have a significant impact on the final score of victory points.
2. Total interaction. Ishtar is a game that seduces as much by its accessibility as by its deep subtlety. Any action played remains in place until the end of the game, even if it then turns against its author. Each tile placed modifies the game board and immediately transforms the strategy of the next players, who are forced to constantly adapt to the developments in the gardens. Will you save your gems to plant many trees or focus your strategy on fountain control? Between placements and blockages, Ishtar offers a total and immediate interaction between players, with games that are only decided once the last tile has been laid.
3. Multiple strategies! Addictive and strong in its careful editing, Ishtar encourages players to refine their playing style as the games progress. The game board, composed differently at the beginning of each game, guarantees optimal replayability. As for the strategies, they are so different that you quickly want to try them all! Will you choose to focus on flower beds, fountain control, gem collection or tree planting? Each method can lead you to very different results, and the Masters will allow you to redefine the method of calculating your final score! Remember that Ishtar's secret is to adapt to the actions of the opponents!
With Ishtar, Bruno Cathala and Evan Singh offer us a remarkable game of accessibility and depth, which will seduce the strategist gardeners inside us!
