The great boreal forests and vast tundra that extend beyond the Wall are home to the Free People, a multitude of so-called barbarians who do not bow their backs to any king and who place freedom at the top of their values. When they all walk under the same banner, few Sudian lords are able to assess the extent of the horde of howling barbarians who are about to break onto their lands. Although individually, they are no better than armed peasants, easy to crush and confuse, the Pillards du Peuple Libre constitute, once assembled, a real tidal wave capable of engulfing much more heavily equipped units.
