This contemporary expansion is an optional setting linked to the main campaign that features 4 present-day Assassins in a radically different environment. Goodbye Italy, and konnichiwa, Assassins! This expansion is set in Tokyo in the present time. It is considered canon in the universe and will have its own story featuring well-known characters led by Layla Hassan, Rebecca Crane, Kiyoshio Takakura and... a mysterious member of the Brotherhood... In a secret laboratory, it seems that the Order has managed to create a new type of ultra-advanced optical camouflage. Why and how did they succeed? Will it give the Order a lasting advantage against the Assassins? In an 8-mission mini-campaign, you'll need to use the Assassins' unique Special Abilities and modern equipment to unlock the secrets of Abstergo's research and defeat their security teams.
This expansion will reveal why these four iconic Assassins have been reunited in Tokyo, following events that break down the boundaries between former enemies. You will discover explanations for some mysterious elements of the main campaign. The story of this expansion will be co-written with Ubisoft's writing teams and will bridge to other existing and unrevealed story elements.
Note: This expansion does not include a lair, so character progression will be handled differently. For obvious reasons, present-day Assassins cannot play the main campaign.
