Before they are sworn in, the Night's Watch Recruits are only conscripts sent by force into combat. Whether they are criminals, fallen nobles or simply poor fathers seeking refuge on the northern border of the world, the Recruits are a motley crew of poorly trained fighters who have absolutely no idea of the horrors that await them beyond the Wall. Yet, when circumstances call for it, these undisciplined rascals, equipped with rudimentary armour and makeshift weapons, can pit the strength of their numbers against a more seasoned enemy. However, no commander of the Guard will rely on the Recruits to hold the front line. They are, at best, cannon fodder.
