Welcome to the Rococo era. Louis XV rules France, and it is fashionable to attend his sumptuous balls, where important people dress in extravagant gowns and fancy frock coats, all eager to outdo each other in elegance and grace. In a few weeks' time, Louis XV is holding the last grand ball of the season, and everyone is clamouring for you to provide them with an elegant frock coat here, a sumptuous gown there, or even a small sum of money to finance the big fireworks display. You soon realise that it's no longer just about your tailoring business, but about your presence at the most prestigious ball of the age and the chance to win eternal fame and prestige.
In Rococo: Deluxe, you are the owner of a distinguished tailoring business that seeks to increase its prestige. Each turn, you play an employee card that allows you to perform a task, such as hiring a new employee for your staff, making exquisite gowns and frock coats to rent or sell, or financing some of the many decorations. However, employees are not always able to perform all tasks, so you need to plan carefully how you direct them, especially as each employee grants a unique bonus - some of which generate prestige. The Grand Ball ends after seven rounds with a huge fireworks display and the final tally of points. You will earn prestige points for the sumptuous dresses and frock coats you have hired out to the ball guests, certain employee bonuses and the festive decorations you have financed. Whoever has collected the most prestige at the end of the game wins.
Rococo: Deluxe Edition contains the Jewel Box expansion, the Party Dresses expansion and the Fancy Dresses expansion, as well as a new single player expansion "Madame du Barry". This version of Rococo features changes from the previous edition of the base game, as well as premium components including custom lace and polyresin thread tokens, wooden player markers hot-stamped with gold foil, velvet bags for garments, silk and jewellery tokens, and enhanced punch boards for garments, silk and coins.
