In a century's time, all that remains of Earth is the detritus humanity has left behind. Races from a neighbouring solar system have a penchant for the artefacts left behind by extinct races. In Excavation Earth, you lead one of these races of alien explorers on a quest to unearth rare human artifacts and build the ultimate art collection for sale. Excavation Earth is divided into three rounds, each of which begins with the drafting of a hand of multi-purpose cards to be used to perform actions. Players then take turns playing actions that allow them to move their explorers around the world map, unearth artefacts and deploy traders in bazaars and influencers to influence prices and trade on the black market.
The artefacts you dig up can either be sold to bazaars hosted on one of the alien ships that have landed on Earth, or added to a collection to be sold as a coherent art collection to museums back home. Excavation Earth ends after three rounds and the player who has earned the most money during the game wins. Excavation Earth includes a single player mode by Nick Shaw and Dávid Turczi.
