The Trident-class assault ship, also known as the Trident Assault Ship, was a model of aquatic combat ship manufactured by the Colicoid Creation Nest. They were used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. These ships were used as both attack and transport vessels capable of underwater and space travel. A larger version of the ship, known as the Trident Drill Assault Ship, had a giant drill at the bottom of the ship, which could be used to penetrate the hulls of battleships and bunkers. The ship could then release troops such as AQ series battle droids using deployment racks through the hole it had created.
The Trident class assault ship, also known as the Trident assault ship, Trident drill assault ship or simply drill assault ship, was a type of assault ship manufactured by Colicoid Creation Nest. They had four durasteel armoured tentacles equipped with magnetic grapples that served as both weapons and mobility, and a diamond pyramid style head that had several observation portals. At the base of the head and between the tentacles in the centre of the ship was a drill point used to penetrate the hulls of battleships and other vessels and structures, and could be opened to deploy battle droids, such as the AQ series, from deployment racks. It was not equipped with a hyperdrive, although it could be used effectively underwater. It was 88.71 metres long and was equipped with eight laser cannons. There were two variants of the Trident class, a smaller and a larger variant.
Its observation portals could be pierced by blaster lances, and although they were equipped with deflector shields, they could be destroyed by a single missile launcher strike. The ship's interior can be adapted to be submerged, but if not, a breach in the observation portals can throw the systems out of whack, causing interior explosions that can render the ship uncontrollable.
