The war of the gods did not begin with an official declaration. No side was designated, no event led to an open battle. Instead, it was the slow realisation that as devotion to one god increased, the power of the others diminished. Some believed themselves to be above the fray, wiser, more knowledgeable, or immune to the whims of mortals. They were wrong. The gods do not exist without followers, and devotion is their lifeblood, whether they wish it or not. The tide of cosmic balance has shifted towards humanity, and the gods who once enjoyed their unconditional respect now have to fight to be in the forefront.
And so the last holdouts who sought to stay out of the fray took to the battlefield in an attempt to dominate. What started out as a minor power struggle had attracted all the most powerful deities in the Egyptian pantheon. In the end, there could only be one. The Pantheon expansion introduces a whole new set of five Egyptian gods, each bringing their own abilities and warriors to the fight against Oblivion. The introduction of each new god into the game not only gives new options to the player controlling them, but also changes the landscape for everyone on the table. New strategies and dynamics emerge when different combinations of gods clash, and the Pantheon expansion increases these combinations exponentially!
