America in the 19th century: You are a rancher and you drive your cattle from Texas to Kansas City several times, where you send them by train. You earn money and victory points in the process. Needless to say, every time you arrive in Kansas City, you want to have your most valuable cattle at hand. However, the Great Western Trail requires not only that you keep your herd in good shape, but also that you use the various buildings along the trail wisely. It can also be a good idea to hire competent staff: cowboys to improve your herd, craftsmen to build your own buildings or engineers for the important railway line. If you manage your herd wisely and exploit the opportunities and pitfalls of Great Western Trail, you'll certainly get the most victory points and win the game.
The second edition of Great Western Trail includes solitaire rules, allowing for 1-4 players. Remember the good old days in the West? Well, times are changing! From new solitaire opponents to incredible landscapes, you'll be at a loss for words. And there's a new herd of cows for sale! Great Western Trail is Alexander Pfister's critically acclaimed cattle ranching game. Players attempt to get their herd across the Midwestern prairie and into Kansas City. But watch out! Other cowboys are sharing the trail with you. We invite you to get in the saddle!
