Sydney's Royal Botanic Garden holds a special place in the hearts of its people. Known around the world for its location, beauty and historical and scientific significance, each of its 29 hectares is not only beautiful, but also a soothing retreat from the city streets. In The Gardens, players draw cards describing different garden features and use them to build their own portion in front of them. Players then score points based on what their visitors see as they pass the various flowerbeds, ponds, native trees and statues in the Gardens. The board you build has three rows - waterfront, grass and city - and you add one card per turn until the area is filled.
The game is accessible and simple to learn, while offering strategic choices. The included modules add variability and depth for experienced players, with landmarks such as the Opera House and Harbour Bridge that players can earn for extra points or special abilities. So join the picnickers, joggers, lorikeets and trash hens, and enjoy your day in the beautiful botanical gardens.
