In Oath: Chronicles of Empire & Exile, one to six players guide the course of history in an ancient land. Players can act as agents supporting the ancient order or plot to bring the kingdom to ruin. The consequences of one game will affect subsequent games, changing the resources and actions available to future players, and even the game's main victory condition. If one player seizes power by promoting anarchy and distrust, subsequent players will face a country overrun by thieves and petty warlords. In a later game, a warlord might attempt to found a dynasty, creating a line of rulers that could last for generations or be crushed by the rise of a terrible arcane cult.
In Oath: Chronicles of Empire & Exile, there are no fancy production tricks, app-assisted mechanics or production gimmicks. The game can be reset at any time and does not require the same group of players from one game to the next. A player can use the full single player mode to play several generations during the week, and then use the same copy of the game for Saturday night with friends. There is no scripted narrative or predetermined ending. The story contained in each copy of Oath will become as unique as the players who helped build it.
