To play, place a carpet in front of you with the Skull side visible. Then take a pack of 4 identical cards in your hand, always hiding their face from the other players. Each player then places a Pink or Skull card face down on their mat, finishing with the first player. The first player can either put down a second card or make a challenge. If he does not put down a second card, the other players can put down a second card, until one player challenges his fellow players by announcing how many cards he intends to turn over. The other players can then raise his bet or skip their turn.
The highest bidder (the "challenger") then turns over the announced number of cards one by one, starting with his or her card(s). If a skull (Skull card) appears, his challenge is lost and he loses one of his cards, drawn from his hand by the opponent whose Skull he turned over. If he fell on his own Skull, he chooses the discarded card. The challenger is the only one who knows which card has been discarded from his deck. If he's only turned over roses, he wins his challenge. He then turns over his carpet with the rose face up. If he has already won a challenge, he wins the game. If not, the players take their cards back and a new round begins.
