During the Edo period, the higaki kaisen, or "merchant ships", were used to transport goods to Edo (now Tokyo), the center of political power in Japan. It was here that the Fudasashi (or "rice brokers") were waiting for cargoes of various goods from Osaka, the merchant heart of Japan.
You are proud merchants, responsible for bringing the price goods destined to make Japan the powerful country it has become today. Their ships leave Osaka for a dangerous journey to Edo.
If your ship is caught in the Kuroshio, you will lose all your goods. Savvy merchants will insure their goods to reduce their losses ...
For each merchandise delivered to Edo, you will be paid in hard currency. Who among you will benefit most from this hard work?
