Le joueur USA prend les 24 cubes bleus, le joueur URSS prend les 24 cubes rouges. Placez la carte de départ au milieu de la table, et la carte de score sur un côté. Posez un cube bleu et un cube rouge sur la carte de départ. Mettez le marqueur de score jaune sur la case jaune au milieu de la piste de points d’Idéologie, sur la carte de score.
