The Chants de Loss are set on the eponymous planet, a wild and almost virgin world, as beautiful as it is hostile. Under a sky barred by the blue glow of the gas giant Ortentia, a constellation of city-states, empires and tribal nations coexist with an enormous, strange, wonderful and frightening fauna that dominates the wild world. Sheltered within the walls of their towns and villages, Lusian societies thrive under the tremors of a golden age of Da Vinci-Punk technology.
The source of this technology? Loss-metal, which makes it possible to levitate ships, build the most fantastic palaces and thickest walls, and produce the mysterious electricity that already powers the first machine tools and new weapons. A resource that is even more coveted than the second most precious asset in the world: women. Loss-metal is rarer than gold, much more expensive, much more sacred... but it is feared, too. For it is the source of the power of the Loss-Singers, who can, with a few notes, resonate with it, control gravity, electromagnetism, life... and defy the gods. The Singers of Loss are extremely rare and they are hunted. The Church is unequivocal about their fate: death or enslavement.
