Destroy the opposing Headquarters by bringing it to Health Point or closest to it while having more Health Points than your opponent. Each player leads an army that consists of units (in the form of tiles). During your turn, you pick up to 3 tiles from the stack (this includes unit tiles and randomly mixed action tiles) and choose 1 (which you discard). You then decide to place your units on the board and/or play action tiles (Combat, Mobility, etc.). Combat tiles?
In Neuroshima Hex! there is only combat when a Combat tile is played. A large part of the game therefore consists of a placement phase: it is advisable both to protect your headquarters, and to place your own units so that, in case of combat, they can eliminate enemy units and damage the enemy headquarters.
Each tile includes an initiative value (which determines when it will act in combat) and has capabilities that will be modifiers to influence the outcome of combat: some units can only strike hand-to-hand, others at a distance (and strike over your units), others are capable of both. As the tiles are hexagonal, they can only fire in certain directions. Some units have nets (which neutralize adjacent units). Others attack several times in one combat phase. Add capabilities such as the ability to take several blows before dying, protection against remote attacks, the power to rotate and/or move, and tile placement is of real strategic importance.
There are also Modifier tiles that can be used to boost your connected units. Or to heal them. And, to make matters worse, all armies are different. This includes both units and actions: some armies have Bombardment or Sniper tiles, and others do not. For example, Moloch has very few Combat tiles and must therefore use them sparingly.
Most of the units are eliminated as soon as they are affected. It is not uncommon for the board to be literally cleaned after a fight.
