On a frozen lake, two tribes of prehistoric men compete in a game of Kairn, the ancestor of curling (pronounced KHEEÊRN). Kairn is played in duels (1-on-1) or teams of 2 or 3 players (one clan). In one game, each player (or clan), one after the other, performs 2 actions: 1) Throw a stone: the player throws a stone from the shore with his finger. 2) Improve his stone: when his stone is immobilized, the pitcher can use ANY equipment he likes: a small club, a large club or a totem.
The small and large clubs allow the stone to be moved by translation, while the totem pole protects the stone on which it is placed. Indeed, if the totem falls on the track, its owner can retrieve the stone and play it again later in the game. Players (or clans) score points by placing their stones as close as possible to the fireplace (the center of the target), as in Petanque.
