This expansion contains five new Great Elders, which can be used together or separately during your Cthulhu Wars games. Choose at first which independents you want to add, and place them next to the map. Each Independent has their own miniature, loyalty card, and grimoire (as well as obscenity counters for Abhoth). The first player to awaken a Grand Elder Independent places his miniature in play and takes his loyalty card. Each Independent has his own special ability, and you can further enhance it by unlocking his grimoire. All independents have a real impact on the game, they are not just extra monsters. They can change victory conditions, change the rules or hit your enemies in unexpected ways.
Abhoth - The source of putrefaction, Abhoth spreads his miasma across the globe, strengthening his faction's defenses and polluting those of others, preventing them from gaining apocalyptic points. If no one stops him, he can destroy any possibility of victory for his opponents. Chaugnar Faugn - Descended from the hills, the horrible proboscidian not only improves your defense, but also changes the way the signs of the Ancients are distributed, to your benefit, of course.
Cthugha - A frightening force of destruction, the fighting power of Cthugha rivals that of the most powerful Great Elders. It also allows you to gain Ancient Signs quite easily. Mother Hydra - Its abilities mimic those of the venomous creature from which it takes its name. She can use her stinging sting to move enemies against their will and can generate new worshippers quickly.
Yig - The father of snakes. He will give your worshippers ophidian powers and your opponents will be sorry you woke him up. He will force your opponents to give you power, or to let you take apocalypse points: in both cases you are the winner.
